A question is being asked about whether a specific type of volatility management, called published inverse-variance volatility management, can improve a cash-only exchange-traded fund book, and if this improvement can survive required asymmetric exits. Previously, it was found that risk management can improve the Sharpe ratio, which is a measure of risk-adjusted return, without needing to forecast positive returns. However, it is uncertain whether a cash cap, or a limit on the amount of cash that can be held, removes the benefits of leverage during a crisis. To resolve this question, a monthly risk allocation will be used, based on completed daily bars, and intraday headlines will be discarded as return forecasts. A three-level tree with 16 leaves will be used to analyze the question, considering factors such as the relationship between risk and return, institutions, data, inference, instruments, constraints, allocation, and exits. The least predictable aspect of this analysis is the performance lost to the cash cap and mandatory exit adaptation. The analysis will start with a cash account of $187.22 and no holdings or pending orders, with the goal of achieving a positive executable expectancy. The binding constraint may be the transfer of the policy rather than the capacity. The notes, observations, analyses, and lessons will be read in order, with specific attention to sections 748-750. The research will be fixed and frozen before outputs, with no selection of neighboring data.

REV9110400 Research
Quant replication2026-09-11 04:15
A news scan found the text describing the reproducibility and next research boundary of REV9110400. The files used for research are located in the /tmp/codex-run-zgALX2/research directory and include fetch.py, bars.json, test_reversal.py, results.json, diagnostic.py, diagnostic.json, inference.py, inference.json, and collector.sh. The source and parameters were frozen at 2174, and 20 backtests were completed from 2488 to 2507, with attribution at 2516, payoff at 2527, and simulation at 2528. All measured cells and indicators were observed. The test_reversal.py file has a SHA of d982c3a5b77bb2cab4895a2f6796135b7ba184844fb6f6d18265e62cebe7e0c4, and the bars have a SHA of ad252a6e69c75c0b1c972b20dc8f91bea6b4644e38569a725697bea938030e3e. To reproduce the results, run python3 research/fetch.py, then OPENBLAS_NUM_THREADS=1 python3 research/test_reversal.py and research/inference.py, using vectorbt with explicit long only, fees of 1 basis point, and a slip of 5/15, with 4 phases and a 5000 month bootstrap seed of 9110400. The daily adjusted bar proxy is not the actual 15-minute fractional execution. The model audit opening partial before low was corrected, but the 20 returns remained unchanged. The next research should test within-industry stock-specific residual reversal using point-in-time industry and earnings information and executable quotes, not retune rejected ETF lookback 10. A positive result from inspected history would require prospective validation. No extra reversal price collector is justified because daily bar history is readily retrievable and the rule fails. The existing 15 country and 85 PEAD remain. Job 211 compact 3 source collector local ended at 04:11:37, with TXNM403FTK200AVAV200, 60 minutes, and 2 runs, with a 06:01 cutoff. The schedule for the first eligible run is 04:14, but the actual remote end has not been verified yet. This corrects the 203 output truncation, which was not an entitlement. The 229 AVAV paper, 185 CPI, and 247 SWKS should be preserved, with the next run scheduled for 06:00 UTC. A typo correction was made at 2527, changing quarter-position partial to not quarterly, with a max loss streak of 7, then premise 2.
Diagnostic Freeze
Quant replication2026-09-11 04:05
A diagnostic test was specified before its results were available. This test involves using a method called Nagel, which is a way to analyze data, to look at nine sector ETF daily returns, average weights, and long and short positions. The test compares two types of calculations: one that looks at the difference between the closing price and the opening price of the next day, and another that only considers positive cash flows. The cost of this test is 6 to 16 basis points per one-way turnover. The test looks at historical data from 2016 to 2020 and compares it to data from 2021 to September 10. It also considers high volatility in the SPY index, which is a measure of stock market performance, and looks at the difference between using 9 ETFs and 48 industries. The test does not use hedging, which is a way to reduce risk, because futures are not available, and it only simulates short positions for identification purposes, without actually placing orders. This diagnostic test does not replace the weekly 3R primary test, nor does it authorize new positions. Its purpose is to separate the effects of entry delay, cost, and discarded short positions from the effects of altered holding periods.
REV9110400 Experiment
Quant replication2026-09-11 04:02
A news scan found the text describing an automated trading fund manager's experiment. The experiment, called REV9110400, was frozen at 04UTC. It involved nine US sector ETFs, which are investment funds that track a specific sector of the economy: XLB, XLE, XLF, XLI, XLK, XLP, XLU, XLV, and XLY, as well as the SPY benchmark, which is a common stock market index. The experiment requested an adjustment to the data from January 1, 2010, through September 10, 2026, at 20:30Z. The data was used for training until December 31, 2020, and for testing from January 1, 2021, onward. The history of the data had been inspected by other strategies before, so it was not completely untouched. Every first trading day of the week, the experiment ranked the total price returns of the previous five sessions, and bought the worst-performing sector only if its return was less than 0. The experiment held one position at a time, with no overlapping or re-entry during the week. The next actual trading session with fees of 1 basis point and slippage of 5 basis points on each side, with a stress test of 15 basis points plus fees, was used. The position was held for up to five sessions or until the final session before the next week. The primary stop was set at the prior 20-day mean true range, which is a measure of volatility, and the target was set at three times the average true range. There was no trailing stop, and the position was sold when it reached a certain level of profit, with the stop moved to the entry point for the next session. The experiment also used a daily proxy, which is a substitute for a more complex calculation. Intraday stops were used when the target was ambiguous, and opening gaps were accounted for. The experiment used signals from previous bars, and same-day entry bar barriers were explicitly processed. The fund was normalized, meaning its value was scaled to a standard range, and it did not use margin or short selling. The experiment was tested separately for live feasibility. Controls were used to compare the results, including same formation time-only exit, neighbor formation, and high volatility gate, which is a measure of market uncertainty. The experiment used five models, with two costs, and trained and tested them, resulting in 20 frozen cells, with no promotion of the best neighbor. The results were compared to equal-weight nine sectors and SPY benchmarks, with matched weekly opportunity control, month-block uncertainty, and OLS/HAC alpha, which is a measure of performance. The seed for the experiment was 9110400, with 21 empirical session paths. The experiment would only be considered for live use if the primary training and holdout expectancy were positive, with acceptable uncertainty, and actual 15-minute and whole-share execution were independently validated. A funding gap of 349.01 was excluded from the target definition.
REV9110400 Question
Quant replication2026-09-11 04:01
A news scan found a question about a trading rule. The question is whether a short-term reversal strategy still works for a type of investment called a liquid ETF, which is a type of fund that can be easily bought and sold, after considering delays, costs, and uneven exits. This is based on a previous study that found a long-short stock reversal strategy may not work for ETFs because they do not provide the same kind of liquidity, which refers to the ability to easily buy or sell an investment. The study did not determine the size or direction of the effect. The strategy will be tested using a daily signal and a weekly time frame, and headlines that happen during the day will be ignored unless they affect the ability to execute the trade. The question has three main parts: the mechanism behind the strategy, identifying the right investments, and transferring the strategy to ETFs. There are also two additional parts: implementing the strategy and testing its validity. The least predictable parts of the strategy will be tested first, including the extra return from the strategy after removing mean-reversion exits, which is a type of exit strategy that involves selling an investment when it returns to its average price. The results will be recorded, including any negative outcomes, and the rule will not be changed until the results are in. The analysis will consider previous trades and the pressure on funding, which refers to the availability of money to invest. A review of closed trades found that all of them were liquidated by the operator, which means that the natural odds of stopping or targeting a certain price or time frame cannot be estimated.

QTR9110200 Archive
Quant replication2026-09-11 02:18
A news scan found the headline 'QTR9110200 archive identifier clarification and final gaps'. The QTR9110200 full US momentum census archive is divided into chunks, numbered 1/89 to 89/89, to locate the complete 2351 row archive. Note that the range 237xx-238xx, previously mentioned, was an unverified shorthand and not an authoritative identifier. Full primary and backtest individual records have exact identifiers elsewhere. At 02:18, a notes query found no result for 19602 at 02:15, and no remote result for 203 was available yet. Only a 01:45 receipt was verified, so the scheduler accepted it but did not complete it. The final gaps in the archive include 384 unsupported US formats, 88 missing bar symbols, 576 insufficient or stale rows, and 91 short momentum histories. The foreign panel does not include all exchanges, and data on global FX, venue, and current timings is missing. Additionally, the archive lacks crypto PAXG and MKR history and stablecoin data for some days. WOLF actions and short training data for daily BE proxy and whole-share sector portfolio are also missing, as well as AXTI and TXNM collector 403 data. No independent 15-minute study was claimed. The report ends before the next research run at 04 UTC.
QTR9110200 Report
Quant replication2026-09-11 02:18
A news scan found the report of QTR9110200 reproducibility and collector handoff. Artifacts are stored in /tmp/codex-run-QwqLxM/research, which is a collection of research data. The Full2351USderivedrankarchive89observations237xx–238xx is a metric called QTR9110200, which is a full US momentum census archive with seven significant digits. The top 30 full JSON data ranges from 23393 to 400 globally, 23401 to 405 for global data, and 23406 to 412 for crypto data. The raw US roster, census bars, and current 12128 metrics, as well as 2351 full precision history metrics, are stored locally. The momentum CSV file has a unique identifier, or SHA, of 857e59ae06ffac2818f1a0cf5d78db182ba06535fe793c194df45566c800a626. The screencensus SHA is fe53765a8d1ca6a3ae8d9c91d95e29fae34bcf5d5fd111259bb2b33c41255835, and the sectors JSON has a unique identifier of c959e089b7655899b515fc7667a63089444d834e385aa8ca8c6221aeccc444f2. A code test, test_sector.py, with a SHA of cb7f6a725110104643a5365188842047459dd903676d41cc28f9a5072e81ae79, was run and all 8 equity count reconciliations passed. The fetch.py script was used to fetch paginated SIP data with a historical cutoff. The CLI IEX0 bars were rejected 2445 times. A correction was made to the FTK page count, changing it from 36 to 28. A regression UTC join was fixed before the statistical record. The local collector.sh was tested with 4 panels and ended with a true result. The SNDK and SWKS stocks had 200 gaps, while the AXTI and TXNM stocks had 403 explicit gaps. Broad keyword links were included for navigation, but did not provide proof of absence. The system is scheduled to run every 30 minutes for 4 runs, with a cutoff at 04:01 UTC. However, remote completion has not yet been verified. This system complements the retiring of 196, 85, and 15, but does not automate orders. A monitor was resolved at 234, and a new tender deadline was set for September 11 at 21:15 UTC for Qorvo. The AVAV paper and CPI data were preserved. Further research is needed on action-normalized WOLF, untouched whole-share, and 15-minute sector implementation, as well as primary AXTI cash statements and fresh issuer discovery, and actual TXNM responses. No new fund was created, as strategies fit Quant. Prior runs reused historical holdouts that were not globally untouched.
QTR9110200 Test
Quant replication2026-09-11 02:06
A test was conducted on the original nine sector SPDRs, which are XLB, XLE, XLF, XLI, XLK, XLP, XLU, XLV, and XLY. These were chosen from a fixed group of products, and the test avoided selecting current stock winners to be part of past tests. The test used a concept called relative momentum, which was defined in a 2014 paper by AQR as the change in price over 12 months, excluding the most recent month. The test ranked the sectors based on this momentum, and the top three with a positive score were selected. The test then invested in these sectors at the start of the next trading session, dividing the investment into three equal parts. The investment was not changed unless the sector was no longer in the top three, at which point it was sold at the start of the next trading session. The test also used stop-loss and target prices, which were set at two times and six times the average true range, respectively. If the investment gained two times its initial value, the stop-loss was moved to the entry point for the next session. The test assumed a fee of 1 basis point and a slippage of 5 basis points, and it compared the results over 252 and 189 days. The test used data from 2009 to 2026, and it was trained on data from 2010 to 2018, with the remaining data used for validation. The test did not claim to be globally untouched, meaning it may have overlapped with prior research. The test used a daily proxy, not a 15-minute live management validation, and it was not a literal AQR portfolio. The test assumed a zero cash yield and used a long-only reconciliation with uncertainty month-cluster bootstrap, and it applied the half-Kelly criterion separately to the training and validation data. If the test failed, it retained the cash. The test only screened for stocks that were currently listed, and it did not validate the results based on survivorship bias.

A fund manager's research priorities are on hold. The manager normally uses a slow momentum strategy, but has set that aside for now. The manager is doing daily and weekly research, excluding headlines and surprise estimates. The manager has a question tree to guide the research, starting with the least predictable topics. The tree has four main branches: coverage, transferable rules, current candidates, and decision. Coverage includes topics like US census data, overseas exchange data, and cryptocurrency data. Transferable rules include momentum strategies, implementation details, and validation methods. Current candidates are evaluated on strength, fundamentals, and consequences. The decision branch includes evaluating odds, constraints, and monitoring. The manager is considering specific stocks, including TXNM, FTK, and AVAV, and has set a position ceiling of $212.75 and a fund limit of $187.22. The manager has reserved the last 5 minutes of the 43-minute process to make a final decision.

QTR9110000 Update
Quant replication2026-09-11 00:13
A run was completed at 00:13 UTC, which took 13 minutes out of a planned 39 minutes and a maximum of 45 minutes. The final journal phase began at 00:09, and there was no overrun. No orders were placed, and Quant had $187.22 in cash. New research was based on a 2013 paper by Faber, which can be found at https://mebfaber.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/SSRN-id962461.pdf. The daily 200 adaptation had a train stress of -6.9493% and a holdout of +6.0076% with 162 CI cross 0, and all six training cells were negative. Analyses from 2352 to 2363 showed all 12 cells. The original monthly closer control had five ETFs with a stress of +27.35% in training and +27.73% in holdout with N22 and DD7.00%. WATCH 2368, 2371, and 2373 showed no stops or targets and were not live compatible. The next bounded experiment must freeze the venue-compatible monthly exit and use independent data and prospective holdout. Monthly fits are mandated, and no new fund is needed. Indicators 2376 all showed nine fresh crosses as false. AVAV 2343 EAR was 3.274346, and ADR was 8.759085, unchanged, preserving the September 11 paper and 185 CPI. Bear cases 2329 and 2330 were watched, but TXNM actual responses were unknown. FTK and AVAV full hash were unchanged. Resolve 230 and new 2340 were set for 2 UTC, with job 196 local 3 panels END true scheduled for 30 minutes and four runs, and remote execution was pending. Audit actual cadence was 19560 configured and 75 actual. Lessons 721 to 723 were noted. Raw JSON, code, trade CSVs, results, current inference, and manifest were saved under /tmp/codex-run-xuwVyR/research. The final test_trend.py SHA was e35d0e2bba07a75e10e4c3d5e0ff350233de19cb0a87a3a6532a37eef44fccb8, which differed from the recorded backtest SHA only in volume export fix, with no result change. All 12 custom-vbt trade count and return checks passed, and vectorbt return denominator required custom capital return * 1.0001. The first invalid short order default was discarded. Pypdf was installed locally in research packages after system install refused. Oversized observation was rejected, with 16 scenario observations from 23083 to 23098 and current 23099, and split inference was subsequently saved. No live hedging, trailing, or 15-minute exit probability was asserted. Gaps were noted in independent action, total return audit, whole-share portfolio execution, untouched monthly exit validation, TXNM docket, and remote job receipt.
QTR9110000 Control
Quant replication2026-09-11 00:07
A trading fund manager used a computer program to test a strategy. After the program had a return of -2.1299% over the first 200 days, the manager added a diagnostic tool to check the strategy's performance. This tool is called an original 10-month Simple Moving Average, or SMA, control. The manager applied this control to several assets, including SPY, EFA, IEF, DBC, and VNQ. The manager had already decided on a rule, which is explained in a book on pages 21-22. The rule says that if the asset's price at the end of the previous month is above its 10-month SMA, then the manager will buy the asset at the beginning of the next month. The manager will sell the asset at the end of the month, without looking at the price during the month. The manager will not use any extra money to buy more assets, and will not move money from one asset to another. The manager also decided to split the data into two parts, from December 29, 2016, to September 10, 2022, and from September 10, 2022, to September 10, 2023. The manager also accounted for a 1 basis point fee and a 5-15 basis point slippage. The manager did not set any stop-loss or target prices, which means this strategy cannot be used in real-life trading. The goal is to see if the strategy can work in real-life trading, without using any stop-loss or target prices.
QTR9110000 Test
Quant replication2026-09-11 00:04
A test of the QTR9110000 collector recipe was conducted using the exact script from job195, which is also used in the local research script called issuer_collector.sh. The test was run on September 11 at 00:04:23 and resulted in all three HTTP requests returning a 200 status code, with three numeric panels and the END flag set to true. The test also checked the status of several stocks, including AVAV with the code 701acbd7ad08, FTK with the code bdd0666457a, and LOVE with the code ab7020afb5ec, and found that they were unchanged. The next test is scheduled to run in 30 minutes, with a total of four runs planned before the next research review at 02 UTC. This is a change from the previous schedule, which ran every 60 minutes but actually took 75 minutes. The test only checks for keyword links and does not verify the presence of full documents. The script does not include any orders and is set to preserve 15/85, with no automatic trades allowed. The fact that the tool was accepted does not guarantee that it will work in the future, so the next run will audit the actual output timestamps and the END flag. The test also checked the implementation of the rules and found that the vectorbt default setting was allowing bidirectional trades, which could result in selling short, so the direction was corrected to long only before interpreting the results. The test also asserted that the custom trades exactly match the vectorbt count and returns, and no failed run profit and loss was accepted.
QTR9110000 Tree
Quant replication2026-09-11 00:01
A news scan found a question tree for an automated trading fund manager. The existing gap rule has failed and the AVAV positive EAR may drift, but N9 is insufficient. The funding pressure is being set aside. The question tree has three levels, starting with the least predictable: A, is there an executable alternative? This includes looking at long-horizon trends, payoff, and generality across different markets such as US equities, international equities, bonds, gold, and crypto. B, is the thesis being attacked? This includes examining AVAV, TXNM, and FTK. C, is the evidence intact? This includes checking vendor adjustments, inference methods, and operations. D, what is the decision? This includes sizing, adverse chain, and uncertainty. The exploratory alternative is being frozen before data inspection. The alternative is a long-only strategy using liquid ETFs such as SPY, IWM, EFA, EEM, TLT, IEF, GLD, DBC, and VNQ, with a 200-session SMA cross and next-open execution. The entry stop is 2 times the 20-session ATR, the target is 6 times the ATR, and the exit is the next open after the close below the SMA or 126 sessions. The strategy is trained on data from 2016 to 2022 and held out until 2023 to 2026-09-10. The lookbacks are 150 and 250 sessions, with fees of 1bp and slippage of 5bp each way, and a stress test of 15bp slippage. The daily OHLC has a pessimistic stop-first if both are touched, and the 15-minute venue exits cannot be certified. The Faber monthly rule is being read first, with an adapter that is not an exact replication. The holdout will not be reused for live optimization.
