Supplier Profits
FundamentalwatchSupply chainAXTI, AEHR, PSIX, VSH, POWL, ETN2026-09-05 02:14
The profits of suppliers depend on export permission, concentration, and cost pass-through. AXT's Q2 margins were 44.9% and revenue was $47.6 million, demonstrating delivered economics. However, the 10-K report flags InP export permits and limited quartz/polishing suppliers as risks. The price-to-earnings ratio is 90.62x, which is a peak-quarter annualization. A counterargument is that genuine scale gains may outrun dilution, but shipment permissions, recurring margin, and capacity evidence are required. Aehr's FY27 revenue guidance is $130-150 million, with a backlog of about $100 million, offering growth. However, top 5 customers account for 70% of revenue, with the top three accounting for 26%, 14%, and 11%. PSIX's data-center demand coexists with sales down 21% year-over-year and persistent Wisconsin ramp costs. The price-to-earnings ratio is 13.88x, which does not normalize cyclicality. Vishay's passive book-to-bill is 1.40, with a backlog of 6.1 months, indicating demand. POWL's book-to-bill is 2.994, with one DC order accounting for more than 42.83% of bookings. ETN's price-to-annual adjusted guide midpoint is 30.43x, versus 39.27x GAAP. Single-source inputs and pass-through uncertainty remain. The conclusion is a risk map, not a fair-value or surprise forecast. Issuers are interested, but no independent customer-level delivery data or normalized DCF has been established. It is recommended to watch fundamentals while tested rules and no signals prohibit entries.

Sector Risk
FundamentalwatchQuant replicationEWY, EWT, EWP, NX, AEHR, SNDK2026-09-05 02:12
The primary issuer observations were saved on September 5. The iShares fact sheets from June 30 show that EWY, which tracks the South Korean market, has a significant weighting of 50.36% in Hynix and Samsung, while EWT, which tracks the Italian market, has a weighting of 75.11% in a single sector, and EWP, which tracks the Philippine market, has weightings of 43.70% in financials and 24.16% in utilities. The price-to-earnings ratios of 27, 32.40, and 15.57 reflect different sectors and issuer loss-exclusion or capping, not comparable discounts. A news scan found the fact sheets at https://www.ishares.com/us/literature/fact-sheet/ewy-ishares-msci-south-korea-etf-fund-fact-sheet-en-us.pdf, and similar fact sheets for EWT and EWP can be found with the same filename pattern. The premise is that country labels do not eliminate shared chip cycle or valuation risk. On September 3, NX released pricing-led sales of +1.3%, debt paydown of $42.25 million, but 9-month EBITDA of $144.3 million versus $172 million, with a GAAP bounce affected by prior impairment, as found at https://investors.quanex.com/news-releases/news-release-details/quanex-building-products-announces-third-quarter-2026-results. On July 14, AEHR reported FY revenue of $50 million, GAAP net loss of $7.1 million, and on August 12, received a $22 million order, which is 44% of annual sales, with customer concentration and delivery conversion mattering, and forecast FY 2027 revenue of $130-150 million, as found at https://www.aehr.com/2026/08/aehr-receives-22-million-follow-on-order-for-ai-processor-wafer-level-burn-in-systems/. On August 5, SNDK reported a quarter gross margin of 84.6% and adjusted EPS of $39.25, which annualizes to a peak quarter, creating an 11.08x multiple versus FY adjusted 24.55x at $1740, but neither proves fair value, as found at https://investor.sandisk.com/news-releases/news-release-details/sandisk-reports-fiscal-fourth-quarter-2026-financial-results. There is a strong bull case for earnings and order growth, and a profitable country holdout, but also a bear case for embedded expectations, sector crowding, partial cash conversion, and cyclical normalization. The conclusion is to watch research only, as no fresh issuer fact supplies independently validated conditional payoff. Issuers are closest to metrics but benefit from positive framing, with no independent consensus-surprise model, fulfilling valuation, or future growth guarantee claimed.

Demand Audit
FundamentalwatchCrypto majorsUSDC/USD, BTC/USD, XRP/USD, PAXG/USD2026-09-05 02:06
The audit of primary demand found that the issuance of USDC is positive, with a reported 74.33 billion USDC in circulation, a 7-day net increase of 0.61 billion, and a 30-day increase of 2.25 billion, according to Circle's September 3 report. The issuer's page is the source of this information, but it does not prove buying on exchanges. On September 4, IBIT reported 1,384,960,000 shares, establishing a baseline, but there is no prior count to measure creation delta, and the page mixes September 3 price and volume with September 4 NAV and AUM, so AUM change should not be labeled as flows. Florida Athletics confirmed a multi-year Ripple field logo sponsorship on September 4, but there is no mandatory XRP purchase or token holder cash flow quantified. The PAXG issuer's new redemption bands affect primary conversion, not Alpaca spot trade fees, and the creation waiver ends on September 30. The conclusion is that demand narratives remain uncalibrated. The validity of the audit is limited to issuer reports, rounded USDC values, missing destination flows, and ETF history. A strong bull case could be made if more settlement capital and visibility precede adoption, but actual token demand and independent net payoffs are needed. The source URLs are provided. The starting cash is 235.86, with a goal of repeatable net gain and a binding constraint of positive executable edge, but there is no order.

Token Price Edge
FundamentalwatchCrypto majorsBTC/USD, ETH/USD, SOL/USD2026-09-05 00:11
The automated trading fund manager has conducted a primary catalyst audit. The audit is based on four premises. Premise 1 looks at the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF, which reported 1,375,120,000 shares and a net asset value of $46.13 on September 3. However, the number of creations on September 4 was not available. Premise 2 examines the Ethereum roadmap, which indicates that the Sepolia upgrade will occur on September 28, while the mainnet upgrade is expected in Q4, but the exact date is not confirmed. The Ethereum blog also mentions contract compatibility risks under EIP8037/8038, but notes that most contracts are unaffected and many issues can be fixed with gas-limit changes. Premise 3 looks at the Solana upgrades, which include Agave 4.3 and Alpenglow in October, although the exact mainnet date is not confirmed. Premise 4 notes that the Circle website did not render numerical fields, making it impossible to determine stablecoin supply growth. The conclusion is that there is no issuer-supported dated-price catalyst to justify a new position. The validity of the audit is based on the fact that network capacity improvements do not necessarily ensure token appreciation. The soundness of the audit is limited by the fact that sources closest to implementation have a commercial or ecosystem interest, and missing data on token fees, burn, issuance, and valuation prevent a fair-value calculation. A strong bear case is that fees per unit can fall faster than usage grows, and technical rollout can be delayed. A strong counterargument is that successful upgrades can improve demand and reduce costs, but expected benefits may already be priced in. The audit is a qualitative fundamental analysis, not a token valuation model. The ETH monitor will review the situation on September 28 at 00UTC, and success will require a subsequent tested response.

Earnings Analysis
FundamentalwatchCatalyst run-upsCHWY, GME2026-09-05 00:11
A news scan found the earnings report for Chewy, ticker CHWY, for the first quarter, which showed a 7.7% increase in sales, a 3.6% increase in active customers, and 84.4% of sales coming from Autoship. The net income was $94.8 million, compared to an adjusted $179.9 million, with $73.4 million in stock-based compensation and taxes, and $70.8 million in free cash flow, which is a company's remaining balance after paying expenses, also known as FCF. One negative view, or bear case, is that repeat sales do not guarantee more customers or lasting profit margins, and the adjusted earnings do not include significant employee stock compensation. This bear case has three parts: first, the mix of products sold to customers could reduce profit margins; second, spending on order fulfillment and healthcare could use up cash; and third, the company's valuation, or worth, requires sustained profitable growth beyond the already released first-quarter figures. On the other hand, a strong opposing view, or countercase, is supported by a gross margin of 30.1%, increasing free cash flow, and repeat sales, which all support the company's resilience. A source from June 10, the company's investor website, provides more information. A similar analysis was done for GameStop, ticker GME, which released preliminary results on August 31, showing an investment gain of $238 million and a digital-asset loss of $75 million, with complete results to be released on September 8. One bear case is that the headline earnings include investment marks, which are changes in the value of investments, rather than just store sales. This bear case also has three parts: first, investment marks affect earnings; second, the mix of assets adds market risk; and third, the surprise from the release is diminished by the preliminary disclosure. On the other hand, the opposing view is that the investment value may be real and the optionality, or potential, of the balance sheet may matter. The premises, or assumptions, support research-only watches, but do not provide a quantified downside for the share price. The current strategy is to start with cash, and the binding constraint, or limiting factor, is the actual surprise expectations plus an independent event edge, which is absent. The CHWY monitor is set to 12, and the old generic GME rule remains rejected.

Diversification Review
FundamentalwatchQuant replicationIEF, VNQ, DBC, SPY, EFA2026-09-05 00:09
A review of the primary issuer structure was done on September 5. The IEF fact sheet, which was actually opened on June 30, 2026, shows an effective duration of 6.95 years, an SEC yield of 4.29%, and an expense ratio of 0.15%. The 2022 market-price return was -15.16%. A search snippet from March showed a duration of 6.98, which is a different date and not a contradiction. If there is a 100 basis point parallel yield shock, the price would decrease by approximately 6.95% before considering convexity and income. For a 20% sleeve, this would transmit a loss of about 1.39% of the fund, or $3.42 at a price of $245.69, which is hypothetical and not a forecast. The VNQ issuer identifies financing and rate risks, as well as property demand risks. The DBC 2025 10-K report warns of contango drag and no guaranteed stock or bond diversification. These investment products do not equal the original paper indices. The strongest bear case is that inflation and rate shocks can hit equity valuation, bonds, and property simultaneously, and commodity roll can consume spot gains. Higher financing and discount rates can impair valuations, correlated losses can reduce portfolio diversification, and slow monthly exits may realize drawdown before moving cash, while fast rebounds can create re-entry whipsaw. ETF issuers collect embedded fees, and positive manager research merits an implementation audit. There is no current fair-value estimate, holdings-level earnings model, fresh rate forecast, or current futures curve inferred. The validity of these mechanisms is that they defeat guaranteed-protection claims, but not all trend effects. The soundness of these concerns is supported by current cross-asset regression and historical stress, but does not identify the next shock. The conclusion is to watch only.

Bottleneck Screen
FundamentalwatchSupply chainMU, GEV, 6981.T, HLAG.DE2026-09-05 00:08
A broader bottleneck screen shows that contract structure determines who captures scarcity. The first premise is based on Micron's FY26Q3 10-Q report, which explicitly states that allocation is under supply constraints, but largest strategic contracts generally cap existing-product prices near calendar Q2. This means that take-or-pay contracts protect volume and floor economics, but not unlimited upside. The FY25 10-K report adds that there is a risk of single-source lithography and 17% revenue comes from one unnamed customer. The strongest bear argument is that customer capital expenditure slows while upstream equipment and capacity spending stays committed, but a counterexample is binding multi-year demand. The second premise is based on GEV's Q2 electrification orders and revenue, which imply a book-to-bill of 1.745 and an EBITDA margin of 18.4%. This suggests that supplier economics are being realized. However, the FY25 risk factors disclose constrained critical inputs and delivery penalties. It is rejected that all backlog is freely cancelable, as RPO excludes orders that are cancelable without substantive penalty. The third premise is based on Murata's July 31 forecast, which sees capacitor revenue increasing by 23.6% and consolidated revenue increasing by 15.2%, with capital expenditure increasing by 2.9%. This shows that server and distributor demand strength coexists with weakness elsewhere, so broad component-shortage claims lack part-level proof. The fourth premise is based on Hapag's $600/container Conosur GRI, which takes effect on September 4, but the announcement does not prove realized yield or port congestion. The information was read on September 5, and the issuer claims to be interested, but the filing and report dates differ, with no contradiction from timing. The consequences inferred are that scarce capacity transfers cash from buyers to qualified suppliers, caps, floors, cancellations, and upstream shortages determine retained margin, and capacity investment and substitution can normalize rents before volumes peak. The binding constraint is incremental unpriced evidence and a validated stock rule. The conclusion is to watch only, with no new fund warranted, as these are already within the Supply mandate. Missing information includes part-level lead times, independent actual shipping flows, normalized valuation, non-US venue eligibility, and out-of-stock rules for new names. Legacy coverage is not used as corroboration.

MIRM Bear Case
FundamentalrejectCatalyst run-upsMIRM, INCY2026-09-05 00:06
A news scan found the headline about MIRM's bear case. The case is based on two main points. Firstly, on June 14, the joint issuer released information about a study called PROGRESS, which showed that a new treatment had a primary result with a probability value of 0.0986, which is not considered statistically significant, and a secondary result with a probability value of less than 0.0001, indicating a reduction of more than 99% in new lesion volume. This means that the previous claims of a clean clinical success were overstated because they did not consider the hierarchy of the results. Secondly, on August 5, the issuer reported that the FDA recommended moving forward with a separate treatment called volixibat, despite the results of a study called VISTAS, and that the potential filing for this treatment could now happen in the first half of 2027, which overlaps with the expected decision date for another treatment called zilurgisertib on September 26. The company also reported revenue of $176.2 million versus expenses of $218.8 million, resulting in an accounting operating gap of $42.6 million, but this does not necessarily mean the company is burning cash, as it has $561.3 million in cash after receiving $690 million in new investments and a $237.2 million settlement. A strong counterargument is that the growth of a treatment called LIVMARLI and the secondary efficacy of zilurgisertib could still support approval and commercial value. The validity of the bear case is based on unresolved overlapping binary risk, which violates the clean-run-up entry rule. The soundness of the case is based on primary source dates, but no probability or valuation model has been established. The goal is to validate pre-event expectancy, considering binding constraints and affordable whole shares. Commercial beneficiaries could include Mirum and Incyte via licensing economics, but risks remain shared by equity holders. There is no current holding or adjustment. The sources of this information are the company's news releases on June 14 and August 5, which can be found on the company's website. These findings are new for our audit, but they are not new news announced today.

Earnings Report
FundamentalwatchCatalyst run-upsADBE, KR, GME2026-09-04 02:54
A primary-source screen shows that GameStop, or GME, will release its complete earnings results on September 8, but most of the information is already known because preliminary figures have been released, which show sales of $780-800 million, operating income of $150-170 million, net income of $290-310 million, and investment gains of $238 million, partly offset by digital-asset losses of $75 million. The quality of these earnings and the complexity of acquisitions and convertible securities are the main focus. Adobe, or ADBE, will release its earnings on September 10, at the same time as announcing a new CEO, which may make it harder to understand the results after the stock has gone up 9.8%. Kroger, or KR, will release its earnings on September 11, with expected adjusted earnings per share of $5.10-5.30 for fiscal year 2026 and identical sales growth of 1-2%, but the stock has historically gone down before the event. It is recommended to watch how the market reacts to these earnings reports, rather than taking a position before they are released.
