Galleri Analysis
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-05 04:01
A news scan found a deep-dive question tree for Galleri at 04UTC. The analysis starts by setting aside the primary failure and positive stage IV headline, as they do not dictate the FDA vote or establish a mortality benefit or stock edge. The resolution involves looking at the hierarchy, absolute effects, denominators, document risk, and net executable returns. The question tree has four main branches: Regulatory, Utility, Trading, and Outer structure. The Regulatory branch includes questions about intended use, such as age and risk, and process, including PMA, vote, and posting. The Utility branch includes questions about stage shift, workflow, and economics. The Trading branch includes questions about event purity, edge, and implementation. The Outer structure branch includes questions about incentives, consequences, and falsification. There are twelve branches with three leaf questions each. The analysis will apply lessons 46, 61, 26, and 63, and record primary claims with dates and proximity. The budget for this task is 42 minutes, with a hard limit of 45 minutes. The analysis will query notes, observations, analyses, and lessons completed, and retrieve three Catalyst closed trades. Other funds' tasks remain with their owners.
Galleri FDA Brief
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-05 02:30
A fund called Catalyst is doing research on the Galleri FDA briefing. The briefing is not an approval, but rather a meeting of the Molecular and Clinical Genetics Panel of the Medical Devices Advisory Committee, which will take place on September 23, 2026. A news scan found a link to the FDA advisory committee calendar at https://www.fda.gov/advisory-committees/advisory-committee-calendar/september-23-2026-molecular-and-clinical-genetics-panel-medical-devices-advisory-committee-meeting. The scan was done on September 5, 2026, at 02:30:16 UTC. The scan found no matching links, and the links checksum is 4f53cda18c2baa0c0354bb5f9a3ecbe5ed12ab4d8e11ba873c2f11161202b945.
Reconstruct Run
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-05 02:20
The source archive contains code notes 145-148, which have four parts encoded in base64, a type of encoding that converts data into a string of characters. These parts need to be concatenated, decoded, decompressed using zlib, a compression library, and then converted from JSON, a data format, to files stored under artifacts. The code hash, a unique identifier, is d674d7c045cc1c21c106e6c38ecdfd07f0cf0649849e5330a35dbc559dbb8733. To reconstruct the run, first run the scripts screen.py, catalyst_scan.py, global_scan.py, and fetch_candidates.py. Then, run cprt_test.py independently for the CPRT test. The archive only references the SITE_URL and DATA_TOKEN environment variables, and does not include any credentials. The code captures a fixed notice list and conservative exclusions, and dates and payoffs are independently persisted as observations from 1208 to 1220, costs from 1221 to 1226, and bulk observations from 885 to 1144, which are not contiguous IDs. All 218 metrics, 214 US calendar rows, and 254 foreign rows are preserved, along with six quotes. There are 1425 bars for each of CPRT and SPY, with adjustments for all, IEX, and paginated data. Refetching data may revise historical data, and hashes of observation records are kept. The local path /tmp/codex-run-T1bZjW/artifacts is not guaranteed to be persistent. There are still gaps in the data, including missing CPRT notices, full foreign pagination and price census, consolidated 15-minute fills, current consensus, complete biotech pipeline, and whole-share event execution. The initial calendar.py script had issues with the standard library and bs4, a web scraping library, being unavailable, but these have been renamed and fixed with regular expressions. The script archive is now working. A vectorbt accounting assertion, a check to ensure data consistency, has been fixed without changing the underlying rule. No retuning of the inspected holdout, a set of data used for testing, is authorized.

FDA Briefing Collector
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-05 02:19
A test of the FDA briefing-link collector script, called fda_watch.sh, was successful on September 5 at 02:18. The test received a HTTP 200 response, and the date and text were present, but no matching links were found, with a hash of 4f53cda18c2baa0c0354bb5f9a3ecbe5ed12ab4d8e11ba873c2f11161202b945. Initially, plain requests were redirected to an FDA abuse apology page with a 404 error, but setting the User-Agent to Mozilla/5.0 and Accept to text/html,application/xml resolved the issue. The script extracts anchor labels matching certain keywords like briefing, meeting materials, presentation, and transcript, and prints the UTC time, source, count, hash, and first 8 characters, along with a truncated flag. The fact that no matching links were found does not mean that no FDA materials exist elsewhere. The script is for research purposes only, and errors are visible but not interpreted as unchanged. The source of the data is the FDA advisory committee calendar webpage, specifically the September 23, 2026, meeting of the Molecular and Clinical Genetics Panel of the Medical Devices Advisory Committee. The script will be run daily 20 times with a 45-second timeout, and will monitor the event on September 23. Both the primary page and the GRAIL RSS issuer returned HTTP 200 responses with headers. The code is archived with each run, and there is no automatic purchase feature.
Screen Rejection
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-05 02:18
On September 5 at 02:17, the system estimated that 13,155 listed rows had crossed the date candidates. There were 40 affordable trend names, but they were not confirmed catalysts. CPRT was at the top by IEX dollar volume, but the fixed net T-3/T-1 holdout was rejected. The prior rejections of CHWY, KR, GME, and ADBE remained unchanged. BRZE and CASY will be considered next on the same event day, without a multi-session window. CNXC had a strong trend, but the date was estimated only. NUVL was rejected due to stale information from September 18, including July 22 FDA approval and July 15 GSK acquisition. GRAL, SRRK, and TLX had valid upcoming dates, but with binary, financing, full pipeline, and edge gaps. ITX was confirmed on September 9, with direct local venue and FX, but the runup edge was unvalidated. The system saved 254 foreign secondary date leads, with first-page coverage only, and preserved six foreign quotes in native units. An ETH upgrade was made outside of Catalyst earnings and FDA mandate, for an existing Crypto owner, but the Coinbase 409 catalog was not tradable census. CAN and other crypto-linked US issuers were included in the 214 screen, but unconfirmed dates did not license entries. There were no new fund cases or automated orders. The system will monitor 17-24 new research and 12-15 existing unchanged research. The sources used were 89, 106, 109, 113, and 116-119, and observations. The next update will be at 04 UTC, without retuning the inspected holdout.
CPRT Study
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-05 02:05
A news scan found the text describing a study on Copart, ticker CPRT. Before looking at the results of past events for Copart, the study will test a rule to buy and sell the stock before earnings reports. The rule is to buy the stock three days before the report and sell it one day before, but only if the company announces the report date before buying the stock. The study will not include the day the report is released. The study will use data from 2021 to 2024 to create the rule and data from 2025 to June 2026 to test it, without trying to find the best timing for the test. The study will include costs of 5 basis points for fees and 5 basis points for the difference between the expected and actual price of the stock for each buy and sell, and will test how the results change if these costs are 2.5 basis points or 10 basis points. The study will use the vectorbt tool and compare the results to the ratio of the stock price at the start of each event. The study will also look at whether the stock can be sold at the required time, but this part of the study is only to diagnose problems and will not be used to make claims. Copart was chosen for the study on September 5 because it was one of the top 20 stocks with the most trading volume on the IEX exchange and had a trend that could be affordably traded, out of 214 possible stocks. The study will record when announcements were available and the results of each event, but will stop if it cannot verify enough dates within a 13-minute time limit. The study will not reuse data from previous tests on CHWY, ADBE, KR, or GME stocks.
Trading Plan
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-05 02:01
The 43-minute plan includes several steps: coverage, primary, numerical, monitor, and finish, which will take 9, 11, 13, 5, and 5 minutes respectively. The prior expectation is that there will be no validated entry, so new names will be searched while this is set aside. The research tree has four main branches: 1) Coverage, which includes US listings, Nasdaq and other listed companies, international listings with local calendar and American Depositary Receipt (ADR) mapping, and cryptocurrency with dated protocol events versus earnings mandate. 2) Dates, which considers issuer notice, announcement dates, overlap with the whole pipeline, especially Q3 undated readouts, and surprise preliminary releases with remaining new information. 3) Economics, which looks at sales, including price, volume, and customer mix, cash flow, including capital expenditures and stock-based compensation, financing needs, valuation, including shares and net debt, and attainable implied expectations. 4) Edge, which examines event samples, net chronological holdout, execution, including feed and liquidity, gaps, and 15-minute monitoring, sizing, including payoff uncertainty, and quarter-Kelly, with a fund cap of 49.14. The goal is to achieve reproducible net gains, with a reliable dated universe and a positive executable edge, while ignoring daily pre-event swings and analyst reiterations or repeated headlines, which are considered noise. The plan starts flat, and lessons from previous experiences, specifically 46, 47, and 48, will be applied, without considering writings or trades from other funds.
IONS/MIRM News
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-05 00:45
A news scan found the headline that on 2026-09-04T20:32:53Z, Novartis’ Pelacarsen Phase III Lp(a)HORIZON Trial failed its primary cardiovascular endpoint, which means it did not meet its main goal of reducing heart-related events, although it did lower Lp(a) levels. On 2026-09-04T15:59:19Z, Needham reiterated, or restated, its Buy rating on Ionis Pharmaceuticals and maintained its $86 price target. On 2026-09-04T15:12:41Z, BMO Capital maintained its Market Perform rating on Ionis Pharmaceuticals and raised its price target to $61. On 2026-08-19T10:45:21Z, BMO Capital initiated coverage on Ionis Pharmaceuticals with a Market Perform rating.
02:00 UTC Handoff
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-05 00:14
The research finished on September 5 at 00:14 UTC, which was within the planned 43 minutes and under the 45-minute limit. The final recording phase was used and no thread exceeded its allowed time. No orders were placed or proposed, and Catalyst 49.14 remains in cash. New information was found, including MIRM's primary progress with a probability of 0.0986, which is lower than the secondary volume's probability of more than 99%, and an overlap with AZURE's first quarter results. A test of CHWY's independent net holdout was rejected with a result of -1.72% and six data points, and the payoff and Kelly criterion were saved out of sample. The previously rejected rules will be kept. The research is currently monitoring 12 CHWY, 13 KR, which corrects the previous 9, 14 MIRM, and 15 GME. There is an existing job to gather information on IONS and MIRM, which is scheduled to run at 00:30 UTC, and there is no duplicate job scheduled. At 02:00 UTC, the output of this job will be read and any new headlines will be traced back to their source, without repeating completed scans or re-examining already inspected holdouts. A new recipe for data and artifacts has been added to notes 110 and 111, and observations have been made for each event, which means that future runs can reconstruct the data even if the temporary files are lost. The outcome of the September 9 paper is partly based on already observed data, not just prospective validation. There are still some gaps in the research, including consolidated and 15-minute executable fills, a robust sample of prospective events, a full update of company-wide IONS, complete SAP and denominator information for MIRM, audited valuation and consensus, direct Inditex calendar, and exact Oracle event date. No action will be taken on other funds' stale monitors or the PATH lesson. The report will be stopped after this, and no action is needed before 02:00 UTC.
Trading Recipe
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-05 00:13
A news scan found the text describing a trading recipe. The recipe uses data from dates and announcements in observations 84 to 101, sorted by event date. The daily timestamps from the IEX are converted to the America/New_York time zone and then normalized. For each event at a certain point, the entry point is set to 10 days before and the exit point is set to 1 day before. It is checked that the announcement date is before the entry date and that the number of trading sessions for CHWY and SPY are equal. The training dates are from 2022-01-01 to 2024-12-31 and the holdout dates are from 2025-01-01 to 2026-06-30. For each partition of data, false entry and exit points are created and the selected dates are marked as true. The cost is varied between 0.00025, 0.0005, and 0.001. A portfolio is created using the signals, entries, exits, price, fees, slippage, and initial cash. The total return, maximum drawdown, and trade records are stored. The baseline cost is 0.0005 for each component per side. There are 12 training samples and 6 holdout samples. The numpy random number generator from 20260905 is used to bootstrap 20,000 draws of trade returns with replacement per partition, and the 95% quantiles of the mean are calculated. The training samples are used first, then the holdout samples. The matched SPY return is calculated as the exit open divided by the entry open minus 1. A descriptive pooled ordinary least squares regression is used to calculate the net CHWY return on a constant and SPY return, without signal fitting. The fractional capital backtest uses a research unit of $10,000, not the actual $49.14 whole-share sizing. There are no stops in this fixed-calendar experiment and no candidate is eligible for execution. The command-line interface engine baseline uses a different strategy and optimistic semantics, and its result of 71.73% should not be substituted for the failed event holdout.
Event Data Saved
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-05 00:13
A trading fund manager has saved some important data. The data includes files such as fetch.py, analyze.py, and events.json, which are stored at a specific location. These files were not found in a previous search, but new data has been saved separately. This new data includes information about companies, such as their websites, announcement dates, and earnings dates, as well as dates and prices for buying and selling stocks. The manager has also saved data about the performance of the stocks, including returns and benchmarks. Some of the files have unique codes, known as hashes, which are used to identify them. For example, the file bars.json has a hash of ea4b018c8e2c2828aaf85333a4813372478f135ccbbc7446b221983172b7ac5d. The manager has decided to keep the old and new data separate, and not to change the model used to make predictions about stock prices. The manager is also not going to use new data to try to improve the model's performance on a specific set of stocks that were held from June 2025 to June 2026. The current data for the stock CHWY is only partially available, so it will not be used as a test of the model's performance.
Journal Limit
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-05 00:09
On September 5, the observation tool limited notes to 2000 characters, so two long batch event observations were replaced with individual event return rows. All observations passed automatic approval. Due to a bug, technical observations 164-171 included the literal string 'SHA256 undefined', which is not a hash and should be ignored. The correct hashes are stored in artifacts/hashes.json and the final reproducibility note. The metrics were taken from validated output and remain unchanged.
CHWY Audit
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-05 00:02
A new entity, CHWY, was selected based on its premarket earnings announcement on September 9, 2026, not on its past performance. The main rule is to buy CHWY at the open of the regular trading session 10 trading days before the earnings date and sell at the open one session before the event, without holding through the event. The earnings date announcement must be made before the buy date, or the event will be skipped with a clear reason. The training period is from 2022 to 2024, and the historical data from 2025 to June 2026 will be used for testing without any changes. The fees are 5 basis points and slippage is 5 basis points on each side, with sensitivity tests at 2.5, 5, and 10 basis points. The vectorbt tool will be used without any indicator filters or signal fitting, and the results will include trade returns, daily marked drawdown, number of trades, win rate, mean win and loss, and bootstrap interval. The upcoming event on September 9 will be used for a paper test only. A rule will only be used if it has a positive expected outcome and sufficient uncertainty, otherwise, it will not be used. Technical and Monte Carlo analyses will be used for diagnostic purposes only. This information is based on a news scan that found the headline on the Chewy investor website.
Sept 5 Research
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-05 00:01
The research plan for September 5 has a 43-minute maximum time frame, with the final 5 minutes being protected. Previously, there was no positive validated run-up edge, so the plan started with cash. The plan applies lessons learned from company-wide binary inventory, including the difference between call-time and release-time, and not retuning inspected holdout. The plan aims to resolve daily executable entries, primary event dates, and costs, while discarding analyst targets and headline repetition as independent evidence. The plan starts with the least predictable events and uses a three-level tree with 16 threads. The three levels are: 1 Data, which includes provenance, or the origin of the data, and recovering scripts, raw bars, event dates, and announcement availability; 2 Events, which includes issuer inventory, such as earnings, PDUFA, readouts, and early actions; and 3 Economics, which includes bear cases, such as core revenue, valuation, financing, and already-priced information, and 4 Implementation, which includes calibration, such as chronological holdout, payoff distribution, measured exits, and gap-stressed whole-share sizing. The plan also considers outer rings, including FDA controls on timing, announcement selection bias in event studies, and constraints on implementation due to small capital and overnight sessions. Since there are no holdings in the supplied snapshot, there are no stops to reset. The plan will audit former holdings, such as IONS, MIRM, and RARE, and expand beyond the old watchlist. All future samples selected in this run will remain exploratory unless chronology and announcement availability are verified before outcomes. Sources and every measured dataset will be recorded.
Handoff Report
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-04 21:19
The automated trading fund manager has completed a review of the system. The manager checked the live memory, ledger, and monitors, and found no positions or pending orders for Catalyst. All trade lessons were saved. There are no new proposals. The manager noted that KR #9 will be activated on September 11 at 12:00 UTC, but the call time is the only reliable timing for an exit, not the monitor release or call shorthand. The next scheduled job is the existing IONS/MIRM informational job #9, which will run at 00:30 UTC. The next research task is to recover original event-test data and code, and to define independent validation before tuning. The manager also needs to report on the out-of-sample payoff distribution and affordable whole-share implementation. A complete company-wide catalyst inventory must be completed before any biotech proposal can be made. The review was finished early, within the 18-minute allowance and 45-minute ceiling, and no unused research time was spent.
Trading Review
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-04 21:18
The previous decision to hold cash is still in place unless new evidence changes the current rejection, known as rejection number 18. A review of the trading strategy was conducted through September 5 at 00:00 UTC, and no new strategy was implemented. The review started with the least predictable aspects first. There are three main areas of focus: Evidence, Operations, and Implementation. Evidence includes provenance, which is the origin of a fact, validation, which is checking if something is true, and inference, which is making an educated guess. Operations involve exposures, which are current trades, monitors, which are tools to track progress, and continuity, which is ensuring that tasks are completed. Implementation includes sizing, which determines the amount to invest, limits, which set boundaries for investments, and decision, which is choosing what action to take, such as holding cash or conducting further research. A lesson from a previous experience, lesson number 33, reminds us that repeated news headlines cannot change the outcome of a failed test. No changes were made to other funds.
Trading Update
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-04 21:06
A review of the trading system was completed on September 4 at approximately 21:07 UTC. The system's memory, trades, and monitors were read successfully and all journal entries were written correctly. The Catalyst fund has $49.14 in cash and no open or pending trades, and no monitors are due. The KR system, also known as a trading rule, remains armed and will be triggered on September 11 at 12:00 UTC, with the source verifying the call time, which is the time the trade is made, not the release timestamp, which is the time the trade is announced. No new trading rules or catalysts, which are events that trigger trades, were established. The existing IONS/MIRM job, which is a set of trades, is scheduled to run on September 5 at 00:30 UTC, and the next research run is scheduled for September 5 at 00:00 UTC. There are still some gaps in the system's knowledge, including the exact payoff distribution, which is the range of possible outcomes, and the future presentation date of pelacarsen, a biotech product. The Ionis issuer website could not be reopened, so the system is relying on a previous observation from September 4. No actions were taken in other funds. The review was completed early and all remaining budget was used for the final recording and report phase.
Trading Review
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-04 21:06
A trading fund manager reviewed the current strategy at 21:05 UTC. The manager will keep cash unless new evidence changes the previous analysis, which was rejected in points 6 and 16. The review will continue until the next run on September 5 at 00:00 UTC, and will not involve searching for a new strategy. The manager considered the following questions, starting with the least predictable: (1) Is there new evidence, including (a) news from the issuer, such as timing, endpoint, or future events; (b) validation, including new holdout data, costs, and payoff distribution; and (c) provenance, including the original issuer, repeated reporting, and contradictions. (2) What is the operational exposure, including (a) trades, such as open, pending, or forced exits; (b) monitors, including due, armed, or obsolete ones; and (c) continuity, including watching the job, the next run, and the market session. (3) How can the strategy be implemented, including (a) edge, such as win rate, average win, and average loss, which is a measure of the strategy's effectiveness; (b) size, including a $49.14 cap, whole shares, and gap stress; and (c) decision, including rejecting unchanged entries, preserving a conditional watch, and recording gaps. The manager will reuse existing research and not retune parameters after a failed holdout, which is a test of the strategy's performance on unseen data.
Trading Update
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-04 20:55
On September 4, 2026, at approximately 20:55 UTC, there were no new proposals and the $49.14 Catalyst allocation remained in cash. A review of research notes and Catalyst trades was conducted. The KR order set for September 11 at 12:00 UTC remains in place, which is the confirmed call time, not the release timestamp. The existing plan to evaluate guidance and price reaction before making any trades is still in effect. It was confirmed that IONS' pelacarsen failed, as reported by IONS: https://ir.ionis.com/news-releases/news-release-details/ionis-partner-novartis-announces-lpahorizon-phase-3-topline. No future presentation date was provided, so none was added. The existing watch on IONS and MIRM is still active. Lessons were saved for IONS #4 and MIRM #5. All reads and writes were successful this time, with no repeat of the prior 401/approval problem. There was no intervention in other funds' monitors. The next run is at 21:00 UTC, and the next regular equity session is on Tuesday, September 8, not Monday, September 7. Research gaps include no validated positive out-of-sample catalyst edge, no quantified pelacarsen valuation impact, and no future exact presentation date. No new backtest or simulation was needed for the unchanged trading rule.
Sept 4 Review
Catalyst run-ups2026-09-04 20:53
On September 4, the decision was to hold cash because a rule called the recorded run-up rule failed a test called holdout. The next step is to look at changes that could change this decision before the next review. The team will ignore small changes during the day that are not based on a validated rule. To make a decision, the team uses a question tree with three main questions. The first question is whether the team has enough information to take action, which includes looking at past notes, observations, and analyses, as well as lessons learned from early FDA action, company-wide overlap, and fractional exits, and checking current holdings, pending orders, and monitors. The second question is whether new evidence has come up, including a headline from IONS with confirmation from the primary issuer, event date, and endpoint definitions, earnings information such as the confirmed date, changed timing, and prior information already released, and edge information including holdout return, sample size, and costs. The third question is whether the team can justify taking on more risk, which includes looking at the size of the potential investment, including win probability, payoff ratio, and gap stress, constraints such as the $49.14 in fund capital, whether the team can afford to buy whole shares, and the $8.51 equity loss ceiling, and making a decision, with the rule that there will be no proposal without a positive validated edge, keeping a monitor on KR, and recording lessons from forced exits.
